Who is Mount Paragliding?

Mount Paragliding is passionate about teaching people this beautiful sport.

We are developing quality pilots who make good choices and stay safe.

Mount Paragliding is based at the beautiful beach town of Mount Maunganui - a holiday destination and outdoor playground.

Due to the location of Mount Maunganui we are able to fly some of the most beautiful sites in the country.

Students routinely fly the stunning coastal sites at Maketu, Raglan, Ruapuke and Ohiwa - providing exposure to different locations and experiences that will develop confident, well-rounded pilots.

For stunning thermal (or cross country) flying we choose the best locations in the North Island - the Kaimai Range and Paeroa Range.

Mount Paragliding makes flying accessible to you. Equipment is provided for PG1 and course fees are paid in instalments as you go. We also provide finance through Q Card.

Our Philosophy

Teaching is about understanding the individual's way of learning and adapting the approach to get the best out of everyone.

The learning phase of flying is a very memorable experience and if this phase is done well, it will keep you safe and enjoying paragliding for a lifetime.

We provide a friendly, family learning environment, and believe that by sharing knowledge and experiences we all become better pilots.

Our goal is to produce pilots with the mental and practical skills required to enjoy the sport without nervous take-offs and questionable landings. Pilots with the skills to travel to other sites, assess the surroundings and fly confidently.

Skilled pilots will help to grow our safe and beautiful sport.

Learn safe, fly safe!
